"First event of the Day
🇺🇦 This morning I was honoured to attend the Ukraine Independence Day celebrations in Culcheth Village.
We enjoyed the Ukrainian National Anthem and moving music from Tara on the Bandura 🎶.
We remember the struggles of Ukrainians, many of whom now call Warrington home. In a world where conflict continues in Ukraine, Palestine and beyond, we pray for мир (peace)."
Charlotte Nichols MP
"The weather today might have been a traditionally awful British late summer downpour, but it didn't dampen any spirits at the Ukrainian Family Hub Warrington celebrations for Ukrainian Independence Day at The Daten! 🌻🇺🇦🇬🇧
Filled with joy, music, food and dancing, it was lovely to see the community come together and to preserve the cherished traditions from home. Britain and Ukraine stand together, and I hope we will soon see peace and the process of rebuilding Ukraine after the devastating war. Until then, thank you to our Ukrainian community and the local community who have shown them such a warm welcome for inviting me to share in celebrating Ukrainian culture here in the UK."

"Ukrainian Independence Day Celebrations, Warrington 🇺🇦
The Ukrainian Family Hub Warrington in Culcheth today celebrated Ukrainian Independence Day! The Hub and the Ukrainian community in Warrington gave a very warm welcome to invited guests including the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain, Fr. Taras Khomych, Chair of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain AUGB - Liverpool Branch, and Charlotte Nichols MP. Â
The celebration began with a beautiful rendition of the Ukrainian National Anthem, followed by a fascinating presentation about Ukraine. A Certificate of Appreciation awarded to the Hub by a Ukrainian Military Commander for their ongoing, support, commitment and solidarity with Ukraine was presented to Adrienne Laing, Chair of the Hub. The traditional Ukrainian hospitality of food, music, singing and dance, then began!
Although the Independence Day celebration was a joyful event there was also great sadness that Ukraine and Ukrainians continue to suffer great loss following the unprovoked full invasion by Russia, and that so many Ukrainians are away from their homes and homeland.
Many thanks to the Warrington Ukrainian Family Hub and the Ukrainian Community for such a warm welcome and enjoyable day, it was an honour to be invited and to be able to join you all in celebrating Ukrainian Independence Day. I hope that next year the celebrations will be able to take place in a peaceful Ukraine, until then we will continue to stand with you.
