We are humbled and proud to announce that we have been nominated for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest honour given to volunteer groups across the United Kingdom. It is considered the equivalent of an MBE and is awarded for life.
From the beginning, our mission has been to ensure that Ukrainian refugees fleeing the horrors of war had a place that was safe, warm, welcoming and kind. A place where, in an unfamiliar country and surrounded by strangers, fear and uncertainty could be met with love, care, compassion and, of course, tea and cake.
Together we have celebrated birthdays, Easter, Christmas and many other moments of joy. We have also shared sadness and remembrance for those who have been lost in heroic defence of their homeland.
What started as strangers brought together by extraordinary circumstances has grown into a community of friendship, connection and bonds that will last a lifetime.
We are deeply honoured by this nomination and would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years. In particular, we thank the dedicated volunteers who have given their time, energy and commitment, week after week, year after year. Your kindness and reliability are the foundation of everything we do.
We know of many families in Ukraine that are desperate to move to safety. Although the prospect of hosting a Ukrainian family may sound intimidating you are not alone.
Many of the volunteers here are The Hub are also hosts and have found the experience to be incredibly rewarding. We are here to help and support both hosts and guests alike.
If you would like to consider becoming a host please either pop in to vist us, give us a call or get in touch via our admin@ukrainian-family-hub.org email address.
We are a constituted voluntary community group based in Warrington that is open to anyone who is a host or guest under the Government Homes for Ukraine scheme or family scheme. Our aim is to provide a safe place and essential care for all of our members and create a sense of family.
Warrington Guardian Inspirational Award
Team of the Year - WINNERS
We are honoured to have won the Warrington Guradian Inspirational team of the year award. Huge thanks to our amazing team of volunteers who week in and out make such huge difference to peoples lives.
We are always looking for volunteers to support in the hub, we operate a rota system so you only have to commit to what you are able to do.
We ask guests and hosts to register as members to help us communicate effectively, understand our community dynamic and provide the best support.
We believe events and trips are an essential element of this focus and we know that creating memories in this way and spending time together as a community helps our guests form friendships and bonds as families and individuals.
We meet every Sunday for our social and support hub and every Wednesday for English language skills for children and adults of all abilities.
“We are new to the hub as our guests arrived this week. It was the first time visiting with the children today. We were so grateful for the support you are providing. Our guest was quite emotional and overwhelmed by everything they have been offered.
You should be so proud of your achievements. Seeing the children playing in a caring and welcoming environment was fantastic.”
